For the second time in just over 6 months we at Just Trading Scotland are looking forward to the a new arrival in our extended 'family'. Last July Tracy gave birth to a lovely daughter and from the 1st March 2010 Kellie will be on maternity leave, with her baby expected shortly thereafter.
We are delighted to welcome back Tracy who is working part time on marketing and we have happily welcomed Pauline Reece who has been shadowing Kellie for the past month and will be taking over Kelllie's administration and sales role while Kellie is on leave. More on the team page shortly!
A Just Trading Scotland team - Liz and Kellie - took some carefully selected products from the JTS range to Brighton's Fiery Food festival in September. This was our first marketing foray into the specialist area of chilli-based products. With both Malawi and Swaziland growing plenty of chillis, including the popular birds eye chilli, we wanted to show-case the products we import from both countries that have the chilli bite!
Some of our products were entered into the festival's 'National Chilli Awards'. Nali, a highly popular and well-known producer of chilli sauces in Malawi had sent over samples which we featured extensively and we had a range of Eswatini chilli-based products from the unusual Strwaberry and Chilli sauce - more a luscious jam with a hit - to the outstanding and US prize-winning, 70% chilli, Swazi Fire sauce. Though we knew the competition would be tough were still amazed at the very extensive range of specialist chilli product manufacturers in the UK and the large crowds attending the event. Breaking into this market with its well-established products and knowing aficionados will probably take at least another visit to Brighton on our part but we were delighted, at our first attempt, to win the Best Imported Chilli Product category with the Eswatini Kitchen Kumquat Atchar!
Our congratulations go the all the people at Eswatin Kitchen who make this superb and luscious accompaniment to a whole range of foods. Why don't you order some and discover what the fuss is about!
If you don't know (and quite a few show visitors didn't) Kumquats are small, tangy orange coloured citrus fruits.
*November Update* It seems that we are not the only ones who appreciate the quality of the Eswatini Products! Click here to read Darth Naga's review on the ChileFoundry blog
